PROVIDING WATER AND SANITATION SERVICES TO ONE OF THE DRIEST INHABITED PLACES ON EARTH.
In July 2011, SA Water awarded SUEZ and its partner, Transfield Services, a 10- to 16-year alliance contract to supply water and sanitation services to 1.1 million people in Adelaide, one of the driest inhabited places on earth.
SUEZ and its partners operate and maintain metropolitan Adelaide’s water supply system, including an impressive 9,000 km of water mains and six treatment plants that provide safe and reliable drinking water.
The contract also covers the operation and maintenance of 7,200 km of sewer mains and six wastewater treatment plants, along with various recycled water plants and schemes and minor capital works.
Each year Allwater delivers about 140 GL of drinking water to the people of Adelaide, as well as treating 88 GL of wastewater and producing some 26 GL of recycled water, mainly for irrigation.
Throughout the project, the government owns the assets and SA Water manages customer relations, such as billing.
